What the deeper journey is all about?

More and more people wrestle with questions of faith such as:

  • Does God really want to be in a relationship with me? Why? How?
  • What can I do to experience God’s love?
  • How do I overcome my weaknesses and live a powerful and meaningful life?
  • How do I experience real joy, peace and the “new life in Christ”?

Listen to how Jesus answers these age-old questions in Matthew 11: 28-30…

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (MSG)

The Deeper Journey is an opportunity for you to make this invitation of Jesus a reality by “coming away” with Him and sitting at His feet for a while, feasting on His word with your brothers and sisters. Exchange a dusty, ill-fitting coat of religion for a garment of praise and come drink deep at the fresh fountain of life in Christ.

The 9 conversations of the Deeper Journey will cover the following themes:

  • Conversation 1: God’s invitation to me
  • Conversation 2: What it means to say “yes” to Jesus
  • Conversation 3: How God sees me
  • Conversation 4, 5, 7: My heart, my thoughts and my words
  • Conversation 6: God’s Word – how to make it my own
  • Conversation 8: Satan’s attacks and how I can live in victory
  • Conversation 9: The Person, nature and voice of the Holy Spiri

The Deeper Journey will be presented by Josie Klopper, a member of Fellowship City, a gospel centered, disciple making and transcultural church in the heart of Centurion. Josie has presented this journey eight times over the last three and a half years. Feedback and testimonies have consistently told of the transformational value of this journey.

What the deeper journey is all about?

The journey consists of:

  • 9 conversations spread over 11 weeks
  • 4 conversations will be in-person in Centurion and 5 will take place via Zoom
  • We will start on Sunday 16 April, directly after our morning worship service and conclude with a celebration on Saturday 1 July
Conversations will take an average of 2 hours. Snacks, Tea and Coffee will be served at the in-person sessions. We also ask that you are ready and available at least 10-15 minutes before the official starting time of each conversation.

Sessions are a combination of Biblical teaching, conversations with other people, personal reflection and journaling, as well as prayer and worship.

In addition to the scheduled weekly conversations, you will receive approximately three WhatsApp messages during the week (via a one-way group). These messages contain further thoughts for reflection to keep our minds focused on the specific theme and especially help us “tune-in” to what God wants to communicate to us.

What you will need

  • Access to Zoom and sufficient data speed that will (as an example) allow you to watch a YouTube video without issues.
  • Bible, journal / note book & pen.
  • Approximately 3 hours per week: 2 hours for the scheduled conversation plus at least one hour for “in-the week” reflections.
